The labor market in Germany is open to nationals of EU member states. This is because the freedom to move to another EU country and live and work there is one of the fundamental rights of EU citizens. This also applies to nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA)—Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway—as well as Switzerland.
