Many immigrants and refugees come from countries where the education and vocational training systems differ significantly from the German system. As a result, the skills, experience, and strengths of these individuals remain hidden at first because they cannot be formally verified (for example, because they lack diplomas, certificates, and other documentation). However, even without this documentation, a person may still be suitable for a job or training program that requires certain qualifications. Skills assessment procedures are one way of making skills and experience visible and can be a helpful tool for advising on integration into work and training. Employment agencies, job centers, and independent counseling and training providers offer skills assessment procedures. At the end of the procedure, you always receive an evaluation of the tests and/or observations and an assessment of your skills in the form of a written document.
In our information center, you will find lots of useful information on these and other topics related to advising and supporting immigrants and refugees.
