Intercultural Programs in Saxony-Anhalt

Many immigrant communities in Saxony-Anhalt have founded their own associations. These associations provide meeting places for the communities and advocate for the interests of people with an immigrant background. Some associations also offer regular classes, such as painting, dancing, or various languages. Our regional advisors will be happy to provide information about the services available in your area. The websites of the “State Network of Migrant Organizations in Saxony-Anhalt” (LAMSA) and the Saxony-Anhalt Society for Foreigners (AGSA) provide an initial overview of migrant organizations in Saxony-Anhalt.

Many cities and towns in Saxony-Anhalt have neighborhood meetups and intercultural gathering places. These are aimed, among others, at people who are new to Saxony-Anhalt and would like to connect with others. There, people meet to chat, eat together, or pursue shared hobbies. Here are a few examples:

Mentoring programs are another way to help newcomers find their bearings in their new home and meet new people. Those interested can register, and pairs are formed: one person who is new to Saxony-Anhalt and one person who has lived here for some time. For example, there are the “Arrival Mentorship” programs for refugees in Halle, the “ChancenPatenschaften” project in Magdeburg, and the language mentorship program in Wittenberg.

Celebrating together is a wonderful opportunity to experience the many cultures and traditions that are at home in Saxony-Anhalt. In Magdeburg, for example, the Festival of Cultures and the Festival of Encounter are held once a year. In addition, Intercultural Week takes place every year throughout Germany; this year it will be held from September 27 to October 4, 2026.

Our regional advisors will be happy to help you find suitable local events. We also welcome suggestions for other intercultural events that are not yet listed here.
