Skilled workers are people who have completed training or studies in a specific field. They have special knowledge and skills that are important for practicing a profession.

If you have any further questions about the advantages of skilled employment, please contact our colleagues at the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt.

If you have trained for a profession in your home country, you can have your qualifications recognized here in Germany.
To have your profession recognized, you will need certificates (e.g., from your studies) and supporting documents. The recognition offices can advise you on the exact recognition procedure for your profession. If you are looking for specific contacts here in Saxony-Anhalt, the IQ Network and the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt will be happy to help you.
The recognition of your professional qualifications costs money. In some cases, the Jobcenter will pay the fees. If the Jobcenter is unable to cover the costs, please contact the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt. The staff there will check whether there are other options for covering the costs.

Continue learning German! Good German language skills are important for working as a skilled worker. Many professions require German language skills at B2 level. Some professions (e.g., doctors or teachers) require a level higher than B2. You can obtain information from your job center.
Some German language courses are free of charge. In some cases, the costs are covered by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).
You can find out which courses are offered on the BAMF website at BAMF.
If you no longer receive benefits from the Jobcenter – i.e., you have already started working, you can apply for eligibility to participate in the language courses.
You can find the application form here.
Further funding and training opportunities can be found at the Weiterbildungsagentur Sachsen-Anhalt and the Investitionsbank Sachsen-Anhalt für companies and private individuals.
The WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt can also help you fill out the form.

In addition to funding for language courses through the BAMF, there are other funding opportunities, especially if you are planning language and professional training together with your employer. If you are already employed, the Federal Employment Agency or the Saxony-Anhalt Continuing Education Agency, together with the WelcomeCenter, will also support you in further career planning and in finding and financing continuing education courses.
You can find various training opportunities and suitable funding options for you or your employer on the following website, among others:
