Focus on Skilled Worker Immigration: Joint Event in Wittenberg Offers Insights

On March 13, 2024, the Halle-Dessau Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) held a business dialogue in Wittenberg that addressed the highly topical issue of skilled worker immigration. Under the title “Recruiting Skilled Workers from Abroad – Explained Step by Step,” the event examined the process of skilled worker immigration to Germany, and specifically to Wittenberg.

The event provided a comprehensive overview of the path a skilled worker from abroad must take to gain a foothold in Saxony-Anhalt. Speakers from the WelcomeCenter Saxony-Anhalt and “Make it in Germany” provided information on the new provisions of the Skilled Worker Immigration Act and the integration of skilled workers within companies. In addition to basic information about the law, the support structures in Saxony-Anhalt that assist skilled workers with their immigration and integration were also explained. Particular attention was paid to questions regarding the recognition of qualifications, short-term employment opportunities, and the various phases of the recruitment process.
