How can counseling agencies in Saxony-Anhalt reach out to EU citizens in an even more targeted manner and provide support that better meets their needs? We discussed this on June 25, 2024, in Magdeburg together with other counseling agencies. It became clear that the target group of EU citizens is anything but homogeneous and has varying needs depending on their life situation. Differences relate, for example, to educational background, age, and the intended length of stay in Saxony-Anhalt. These differences must also be taken into account when addressing and advising EU citizens. Among other things, we have identified overarching needs such as multilingual services in the respective native languages, more targeted initial information on free support services, and the development of community structures. To this end, increased networking efforts and the expansion of information—particularly regarding local support services—are essential.
