Central Office for Foreign Education

A wide range of stakeholders is involved in the recognition of degrees earned abroad. The central authority for qualifications earned abroad is the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB). The ZAB issues expert opinions on specific individual cases. It also provides the implementing agencies with general information about the country and its education system. This allows, in particular, for the comparison of foreign higher education degrees to determine at which institution the degree was earned and how it can be classified in comparison to domestic higher education degrees. However, no legal claims can be derived from this.

Further information on the Central Office for Foreign Education can be found on the website of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs.
