Priority Review
In some cases, the Federal Employment Agency conducts a priority review before the Foreigners’ Registration Office can issue a work permit. This review determines whether there are eligible candidates available for the position to be filled. For most groups of people, such as skilled workers with a professional qualification recognized in Germany or asylum seekers, the priority check was largely abolished by the Skilled Immigration Act of 2020 at the latest. Further details are regulated by the Residence Act and the Employment Regulation.
