Equivalence check
Individuals with foreign professional qualifications can apply in Germany, regardless of their nationality, to have their qualifications assessed for equivalence to a German reference occupation. Across Germany, there are various authorities and institutions that process these applications and conduct assessments—so-called “competent authorities.” Jurisdiction depends on the chosen reference occupation and the applicant’s place of residence.
