Finding and retaining foreign specialists

On 19 June 2023, around 110 people came together in the Stadthaus Halle (Saale) to discuss the recruitment, qualification and integration of skilled workers from abroad with experts and other companies. The event was organised by the Welcome Culture and Skilled Labour Recruitment Network, the City of Halle (Saale) and the Saxony-Anhalt WelcomeCenter.

One key finding was that the recruitment of foreign skilled workers works best when it is approached holistically. Both the workforce and the families of the skilled workers should be involved. Equally important is a long-term personnel development programme in which the skilled workers receive ongoing support and can develop according to their needs. And something else became clear that afternoon: it is impossible to imagine Saxony-Anhalt without skilled workers from abroad and they represent enormous potential for local companies. Saxony-Anhalt offers numerous support programmes for companies and skilled workers on all aspects that need to be considered when employing skilled workers from abroad.
