Interculturalism and dealing with diversity

Dealing with diversity in working life means consciously dealing with the differences and similarities of the people who interact there. This applies to the employees in their own team, in the entire company and also to the contact with clients and customers.

Different backgrounds of the participants can lead to confusion or misunderstandings. At the same time, different interests, experiences and talents in the team can enrich the joint work. In exchange with the clients and customers, new ways of solving problems emerge. If diversity is recognised and valued as an enrichment, the potential it contains can be recognised and used.

Training courses on intercultural competence initiates a process that supports staff in dealing with confusion and experiencing diversity as something positive and beneficial. Participants learn to reflect on their own actions as well as the behaviour of others. This enables them to react appropriately to a wide variety of people and to act in a goal-oriented manner in their everyday work.

Training for the acquisition of intercultural competence can be a measure of diversity management of companies and institutions. However, it is important that the training courses are tailored to the needs and target groups and are adapted to the respective participants.
