Citizens from EU member states

The labour market in Germany is open to nationals of EU member states. This is because the freedom to move to another EU country and to live and work there is one of the fundamental rights of EU citizens. This also applies to nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA) – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway – and Switzerland. In the following, however, the group of people outside the EU will be considered.
